Up until now, we have relied on people coming to one of our offices in Allen, DeKalb, and Saint Joseph counties for services; however, bringing those services to people in outlying counties is an important part of our effort to fulfill the mandate of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, when he urged us to go into the peripheries of society and reach people where they live, work, struggle, and dream, particularly during this Year of Mercy.
Unfortunately, establishing a physical presence in each of the remaining 11 counties within the diocese has proven cost prohibitive—until now. Thanks to the generous support of anonymous donors, we have been able to secure a mobile unit in the form of a Thor Axis RUV, allowing us to take our programs and services on the road. Through this mobile unit, we will be able to visit each of the remaining 11 counties within the diocese at least twice a month, rotating our current, credentialed staff and offering many of the same services as those available in our physical offices.
During these county visits, we will be able to:
Address the needs of our target population where they live, work, and go to school.
Expand our reach in a cost-effective way.
Conduct rolling research, getting to know the specific needs of our target population and developing effective strategies to address those concerns.
Establish collaborative relationships with other agencies, bringing in partners who can address needs that don’t fall within the scope of our mission.
Create opportunities for local funding through county-specific foundations and investors.
Nurture strategic partnerships with parish communities, expanding awareness of our agency’s mission and increasing engagement opportunities with parish members.
While we are thrilled to receive the donated vehicle, we still need help in the form of operational dollars to be able to transport the mobile unit to each county. Consider this. For a donation of just $40, you can help us travel 160 miles each month, meeting needs and offering hope in many different communities within our diocese.
Please consider how you might partner with us as we extend the love of Jesus to thousands of people in need of services. In doing so, you will be helping us fulfill our mission during this special Year of Mercy.
