VITA Tax Begins January 29, 2024

Catholic Charities’ North Region is kicking off the annual VITA Tax Program beginning January 29, 2024 and will run until April 9, 2024.

For residents of DeKalb, Steuben, LaGrange, and Noble counties whose household income was under $64,000 in 2023, IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers can help residents prepare their taxes. A United Way sponsored-program, the UW partners with Catholic Charities Diocese to offer the VITA program in Allen, DeKalb, Noble, and Steuben counties and the Volunteer Center for Allen County.

According to United Way, this free tax preparation service brings nearly $2.5 million back into the local community in refunds and saves residents over $730,000 in preparation fees, keeping more money in the pockets of those who need it the most. (source: unitedwayallencounty.org/vita/)
