Hope for a Hardworking Mom

I recently met a single mother of three who was doing everything she could to provide for her family. She worked full-time, accepted overtime whenever it was available, and still found herself struggling to make ends meet as the cost of housing and groceries continued to rise.

One unexpected challenge made things even harder. Her SNAP benefits had been delayed because her income exceeded the eligibility limit by just a few dollars. Between her demanding work schedule and caring for her children, even visiting a food pantry during regular hours was difficult.

Together, we looked beyond the immediate crisis. Catholic Charities was able to help with a portion of her rent, easing the financial pressure she was carrying. We also connected her with childcare resources, food pantries that fit her schedule, and additional community programs that could provide ongoing support.

As I watched her determination to keep moving forward, I was reminded that many families aren't looking for someone to rescue them—they simply need someone willing to walk beside them during a difficult season. Sometimes a little support is all it takes to help a hardworking parent continue building a stable future for their children.
